Is this a problem with uuencode or with your "mail" command? I'd guess
the latter, in which case you'd need to send a bug report to whoever
maintains your "mail" command, not to bug-gnu-utils.
To see whether it's a uuencode problem, run the command
uuencode test.txt test_attachment.test >outfile
uudecode <outfile >infile
cmp infile test.txt
on both Solaris and GNU/Linux, and compare the output files. If you get
the same results, I doubt whether it's a uuencode bug.
