Subject: Bug#246202: cmp: verbosity needs to be expanded to cover varying
levels of detail
Package: diff
Version: 2.8.1-6
Severity: wishlist
IMO in cmp there should be varying levels of verbosity available, so
users can see just how comparisons are going; i.e. -l can be
supplemented with -ll, with -lll ...etc. As things stand now (unless I
am missing something) "verbosity" is a pretty terse matter with cmp...
P.S.: Maybe also change -l to -v (and change -v to -V).
What's Debian policy on switch standards, anyway?
;-P
