Subject: Bug#246491: diff: --dry-run does not check backup file names
Package: diff
Version: 2.8.1-6
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/diff
When using -B, diff may give an error at backup time because the file
cannot be created. This happened to me because the file was not in the
current directory, so I should have used -Y instead.
Anyway, that error was not caught by the previous --dry-run that I had
tried. When running with --dry-run, diff should probably check that it
will be possible to create the requested backup files.
