Hey there, unthanked maintainer!

This page seems to be a little out of date. 
It is likely that I am ignorant, too.

The page says the latest beta for tar is 1.13.19
But I'm using a version labelled version 1.13.22,
from a mandrake workstation linux 8.1 release.

I guess what I want to know is why mandrake is using
a version of gnu tar that seems to be more recent
than is available from the GNU site.

The reason this matters is that I have found a bug
that is a showstopper (for me, anyway), and I need
to get it fixed. I thought I would "just" get the
latest sources, and see if I could fix it.
