test -z is part of the posix /bin/sh shell.  Do you know of a platform
where this is not the case?

     I think line 16169 is OK.
     
     I think the problem is on 16167 and the Bashism: test -z
     "$CC_FOR_BUILD". I think you need to do that the /bin/sh way:
     
         if test "x$CC_FOR_BUILD" = "x"; then
