That is strange.

Same sysctl settings, too? In particular, address randomization
appears to be enabled, does this also happen if you disable it (echo 0
| sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/randomize_va_space) ?

I'm thinking it might "simply" be a very timing-sensitive issue, which
would exonerate me :-)
