I've been a little behind in my /. reading, so I've just finished catching
up on the list. It's great to see the enthusiasm behind this project, and
I'm especially interested since I've been working on similar things myself.

About a year ago I wrote the Info Network, with similar goals to the
GNUpedia project. I spoke a little bit with some kind folks at the FSF about
the licensing issues and related problems, but I never really got around to
setting up an actual system for placing everything under the FDL.

Anyway, the site is: http://www.theinfo.org/

Anyone can contribute, all the data is stored in a PostgreSQL database, all
the software is GPLed and I'm willing to help modify it to work with
GNUpedia efforts. Content is available in XML, but currently submitted in
HTML.

Quite simply, you can enter text through a web interface and it is
permanently stored on the server. Anyone can go ahead and edit it and it's
entered into the database as a new "version" of the document. There's no
moderation system, but you can vote and comment on an article.

The server hasn't seen much use but the technology is pretty solid and is
certainly scalable. I'd appreciate comments and might be able to do some
work on it, but I'm currently working on other projects.

Anyway, there's a starting point and some code. You can go from there,
