I think the public side should be in the format the viewer is using.

If we have a good back-end system ... perhaps relational databases and some
XML ... then we should be able to generate views in HTML, WML, etc.. etc..

Let's not suffer the curse of too many web sites .... best viewed in
whatever the current Browser leader is ... and obsolete in a matter of 2
years.
