One possible lead is that "Backups" appears near the top of the categories 
list. You may have a badly formatted entry in the categories file for this 
database whih could prevent anything after the entry from being read 
properly. I'd take a hard look at the "pending" and "Backups" entries in 
the categories file.

Assuming you are running GNATS version 3.113 that is not normal. I suggest 
you run the gen-index utility to generate a new index, and see if that 
helps. That might also help wrt. the problem above.
