i have one question. i am running ddrescue on mac os x 10.4. i am doing a direct copy from one device to the other. however the partition on the target drive is slightly larger than the source. i am using this command./ddrescue -v /dev/disk0s3 /dev/disk2s5 RescueLog.txtis this going to produce an unusable volume because the target is not the same size as the source? i have not stopped the progress and tried to mount it yet.
There is no problem copying data to a larger partition, except the waste of space. At least it is not a problem for ddrescue itself.
If you have any problem to mount it after the rescue, you always may copy the rescued data to a partition of the exact size.
