That's awesome, thanks for the extra info and offering to look at those issues 
reported over the last year or two.


I don't really want to volunteer for the official maintainer title though; much 
rather let someone else deal with making releases.

That's fine. I've contacted maintainers(at)gnu.org, and nominated myself to 
adopt datamash if Assaf doesn't come forward. I have enough room in my life at 
the moment for an extra responsibility.

I guess the first task on my plate will be to roll a new release to consolidate 
any improvements made since 2020. (With 20/20 hindsight, I should have gotten 
this rolling a few months ago so we could get v1.8 into Ubuntu Jammy. Oh well.)
