Hi Tim - thanks for bringing this up. I saw a random reply from Assaf
just over a year ago on a minor Savannah question, so I hope/trust he is
still doing fine in general. However, he seems to have mostly moved on
to other things after several years of intense work on various GNU
projects.
So, barring a reply from him here, I think it would be great if you
offer to take over datamash. There is a procedure for this, and the
place to start is with writing maintainers (at) gnu.org. The people
there can tell you more about the details. (If you don't get a reply
within a couple of days from them, please let me know.)
It would not hurt to write them now to get things started. It
intentionally takes some time, to give everyone involved (Assaf in this
case) a chance to pipe up.
Happy hacking,
Karl
