FSF copyright holder of CVS? |

Hi everyone,
rms noticed that several CVS developers(*) have made copyright
assignments to the FSF over the years (though by no means all). Also,
the copyright to the package as a whole is, according to the HACKING
file, held by the FSF. He wondered how all this came about. Was it
treated as a GNU package in the early days, or something? Any light you
can shed would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karl
(*) Specifically, I see these assignments have been received:
FORE Systems 1999-11-09
