About the original topic of this thread: Is there any reason why CVS connects to the server when you run a 'cvs add' or 'cvs remove' command? As far as I can see, these commands do actually nothing but adding/changing a line in local CVS/Entries file. Only the 'cvs commit' command adds/removes the file in the repository.
