Hi Stafford,

I've given a try to build libgeos and it still doesn't link, but then we're
facing 2 different bugs and I've mixed them up.
With libgeos it's true that linker hangs on assert() but before it emits
"relocation truncated to fit: R_OR1K_GOT16 against symbol"

So what you've propose fixes another bug that I'm going to submit.

So I ask you if you can fix the current bug:
relocation truncated to fit: R_OR1K_GOT16 against symbol
