Fixed in CVS. Thanks for the report.
I checked the correctness of the change with some test cases I
gathered over time, but as it is potentially dangerous and I probably
cannot catch everything, it would be nice if people could have an eye
on filling and report any peculiar behavior. Especially with respect
to code comments.
