On my version (4.0) there is a progress bar. But it doesn't really reflect the progress. It moves about 1/2 cm, then stops for the next few minutes until the process actually ends, when it disappears.

That would indeed help so the user sees that something is going on.

Reason of this slow behaviour is that there are a lot of operations in
the database to store snapshots being made of each chapter that is
added. These database operations appear to be slow.
