Hi Doug,

I agree, this package needs to get pushed up to the Debian repo. But, like you, I don't really have the know-how either. I was just barely able to get it packaged and that was with a lot of help from Martin Hosken. He's the one who pushed it up to the SIL repo for me. Hopefully, in time, I'll be able to get a procedure down to where I can package and get it on the SIL repo. But I doubt that I'll ever obtain the status it takes to get enter the holy of holies. Hopefully Daniel will be our priest. ;-)

In Him,

Dennis

Any chance of using this package to update the Debian repository as well? I don't think the package should need to change significantly, just a matter of getting up on the repo. There is already a BE package (http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=bibledit), but it's long out of date (version 2.2 in testing and unstable, 1.9 in stable). I'm CCing Daniel Glassey, the listed maintainer of the package, in case he can give some help on how to go about updating the package.

I've been wanting to do this myself for a while, but I just don't have the know-how.

    Greetings,

    This is to let you all know that Bibledit 3.4 is packaged in .deb
    form for use in Unubntu 8.04. It has been deposited in the SIL
    package repository found at packages.sil.org
    <http://packages.sil.org>. Point your Synaptic package manager at:

    deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu hardy main

    This is my first attempt at packaging. All I can say is it works for
    me.:-) I even have it installed on an Asus Eee here in our office.
    Many thanks to Martin Hosken for his help with helping me learn the
    process. Hopefully in the future I'll be able to do this quicker.

    Thanks,

    Dennis
