Something is broken (slightly) somewhere, I'm sure it will get fixed at some

I've been using it on my test code and it seems to be quite complete, I can 
single step/continue and read
variable values, dump the registers etc.

My projects have been handled by a PIC16F84 in the past, so even a atmega8l 
would increase the flash I'm used to having by eight times, yet Avr JTAG only 
starts with targets having >= 16K flash, I won't be going there for a while I 
think.
