They're used like this:
(1) acgeneral.at: mktests.sh $(MACRO_FILES)
(2) cd $(srcdir) && ./mktests.sh $(MACRO_FILES)
Note the 'cd $(srcdir)' in line (2). A $(top_srcdir) relative path
will be invalid in $(srcdir).
Due to VPATH, the dependencies in line (1) don't need to explicitly
mention $(top_srcdir), '..' suffices.
