The computer that my workspace would like me to do my work on is outfitted
with a some version of windows.  It was possible to amend the PATH without
being an administrator, but as I recall I had to go through some hoops,
but maybe someone who’s well-versed in windows wouldn’t experience
difficulties.  However, in my experience, people who mostly work on
windows don’t know about the PATH.

It seems "start" is the magic command.  Which might make the patch
redundant in the first place.

Arash: Is your default viewer not SumatraPDF?  If it is, I guess should
already be used by start.

Amen.  I dump program to d:/nix/bin.  [What is up with drive letters
anyway!  Why is the physical layout exposed to me?]
