Just one comment. A nifty thing about add-change-log-entry is that
it has some kind of navigation.

That is if cursor is

(defun my-new-cool-function ()
  (interactive)
  (message "cool"))

I obtain

        * gnus-init.el (my-new-cool-function):

Which I find useful. Vc to my knowledge has no such functionality.
