[Swftools-common] avi2swf not being compiled, avifile-config present

Hello all.

I'm helping to maintain the swftools for Gentoo Linux.  The package
builds fine except for avi2swf.  configure output shows this:

checking for avifile-config... avifile-config
checking whether we can compile the avifile test program... no
* Couldn't compile the avifile test program.
* Disabling avi2swf tool...
updating cache ./config.cache

avifile is installed and avifile-config is in /usr/bin.  It looks like
configure finds it just fine.  I tried to follow the configure file but
can't see why it is failing that avifile test.

This was reported by a gentoo user as bug 41073:
