Summary: allowed_ips Hostname Lookup

Hello,
is there any possibility to have hostname lookup for allowed_ips ? that way, we
could use dynamic dns services for those who want to access remotly to their
mldonkey and have dynamic ip...
currently i'm using phpEselGui to manualy update allowed_ips, with hostname
lookup, i could use services like dyndns and update the domain everytime my ip
changes.
Please, say what you think about this.

Also, if you add this function, you could change the var name to
allowed_address or something like it.

Thanks.

Ah,I should have spent some more then 10 secs on that idea ...

It is a bad, bad, bad idea!

If you use dyndns neither a cronjob, nor the "fullfeatured" solutions are a good
idea, since it opens the door to your mldonkey and after that via "set
allowed_commands whatever you like" to your whole box.

If you use dyndns the name you use will _always_ resolve to some IP, even if
your offline. This enables some stranger that gets your last IP assigned to
enter your box.

Certainly that's not feature mldonkey should offer, espacially someone willing
to risk that, can use a script and cronjob.

A secure solution would be to establish a ssh-connection to the donkeybox and
dynamically setting allowed_ips from within your logon-script.

There is a little problem ...

It would be neccessary for this to work "fullfeatured", to make a DNS lookup,
each time someone tries to connect to the donkeyports. Not the best idea, IMHO !

Another solution would be, to periodically (let's say 5 mins) make a DNS lookup
and then set the an allowed IP until the next lookup. ... wait just a minute
... couldn't this simply be done with a simble script as cronjob on the
mldonkeybox?
