You can inspect the variables in the environment by looking at the
env-vars file 
(http://hydra.nixos.org/build/846879/download/1/nix-build-6lx1wivhwgrjlm3zxvda4hbp96w72xyg-rcs-5.7.95.drv-0/env-vars).

id -un should work.
