Great ! Let's see....oops. It says,

  Exif support :
  IPTC support :
  ICC support :
  ID3 support : yes
  Vorbis support : yes
  APE support : yes
  FLAC support : yes
  chm support : no
  OLE2 support : no
  ODF support : no

(build log attached)

I had:

ii exiv2 0.14-2 EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation
tool
ii libexiv2-0 0.14-2 EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation
library
ii libexiv2-0.10 0.10-1.4 EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation
library
ii libexiv2-dev 0.14-2 EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation
library - development fi
ii libkexiv2-1 0.1.5-1+b1 Qt like interface for the
libexiv2 library (runtime)
ii libkexiv2-dev 0.1.5-1+b1 Qt like interface for the
libexiv2 library (development)

The same without libexiv2-0.10. I wonder about these two:

Package: libexiv2-0.10
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 864
Maintainer: KELEMEN Peter <address@hidden>
Architecture: amd64
Source: exiv2
Version: 0.10-1.4
Replaces: libexiv2
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1), libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1-12), libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1-12)
Recommends: exiv2
Conflicts: libexiv2
Description: EXIF/IPTC metadata manipulation library
 Exiv2 library supports:
  * full read and write access to the EXIF and IPTC metadata of an image
through Exiv2 keys and standard C++ iterators
  * a smart IPTC implementation that does not affect data that programs like
Photoshop store in the same image segment
  * EXIF MakerNote support:
o MakerNote tags can be accessed just like any other EXIF metadata
o a sophisticated write algorithm avoids corrupting the MakerNote:
  * extract and delete methods for EXIF thumbnails (both, JPEG and TIFF
    thumbnails)
  * set methods for EXIF thumbnails (JPEG only, TIFF thumbnails can be set from
    individual tags)
  * complete API documentation (by Doxygen)
  * generic lower-level classes to access IFD (Image File Directory) data
    structures

I don't expect you to grok the debian package djungle.
But perhaps you've some hint.

By the way, what exactly does it include ?

Generally, a full new installation should comprise

- make uninstall
- delete the local svn tree
(- possibly, search for artefacts at this point)
- svn checkout
- configure, make, make install
- In rare cases, rename (backup) ~/.gnome-commander to get a real new default
configuration
