[gcmd-dev] Should F12 key also work in 1.3.4

I am still trying to get the python plugins to work. I encountered
problems compiling 1.2.4, and so can't get to test the
sample-plugin.py. 

I have 1.3.4 running and would like to know whether the F12 key would
work. I tried placing sample-plugin.py in /usr/local/bin and in the
current working directory from where i run gnome-commander. But in
neither case did F12 invoke the sample-plugin.py (no output in the
console).

Am I doing something wrong or F12/python plugins just wouldn't work in
1.3.4?
