Hi,

Trying to build 1.3.1 and gave it the --without-x option. Seems
like that, well, doesn't do a HECK of a lot.... Ok, well it claims :

checking for X... disabled

in the configure, but then when I make it I get :

gcc -c -I. -I/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../.. -I..
-I/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../../lib
-I/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../../lib/extend -g -O2 -Wall
-pedantic -ansi -DX11 -DLOCALEDIR='"/usr/local/share/locale"'
/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../arch/unix/gwin_x11.c
/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../arch/unix/gwin_x11.c:22:
X11/Xlib.h: No such file or directory
/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../arch/unix/gwin_x11.c:23:
X11/Xutil.h: No such file or directory
/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test/arch/unix/../../arch/unix/gwin_x11.c:24:
X11/cursorfont.h: No such file or directory
gmake[1]: *** [gwin_x11.o] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/freetype-1.3.1/test'

At first our admins just copied the X11 libs to the machine (They
have been properly punished) and it seemed to compile and get what they needed.
Turns out, this gwin_x11 is a test program that we didn't use/need.

So.... It is worth asking if the --without-x can be linked to not
making that gwin_x11? (I see that freetype 2 is more actively used)

                Thanks, Tuc/TTSG Internet Services, Inc.
