Hi to all,

there seems to be a problem with linear scaled advances of german umlauts
"äöüÄÖÜ" in truetype fonts. (At least with arial.ttf,comics.ttf, tahoma.ttf
and times.ttf).
The advances are much too small, and there is no difference between the
advance of uppercase and lowercase german umlauts.

Example:
Comparison of advances of "äöüÄÖÜ" and "aouAOU"

arial.ttf 12 pt 96 dpi "äöüÄÖÜ"

linearHoriAdvance ä = 349184
linearHoriAdvance ö = 349184
linearHoriAdvance ü = 349184
linearHoriAdvance Ä = 349184
linearHoriAdvance Ö = 349184
linearHoriAdvanceäÜ= 349184

arial.ttf 12 pt 96 dpi "aouAOU"

linearHoriAdvance a = 583168
linearHoriAdvance o = 583168
linearHoriAdvance u = 583168
linearHoriAdvance A = 699392
linearHoriAdvance O = 815616
linearHoriAdvance U = 757248

thanks

Claudia
