Ahh... Werner, is it considerable idea for FreeType to add a hardwired
assumption to recognize the randomization prefix of the fonts embedded in PDF?

Hi Werner,

Thank you for quick response. To be more precise, my case is PDLCJH+OCR-A font.
This is incremental font build of OCR-A font. Free type flags it as tricky.

Justyna

Dear Werner, Justyna and Roy,

"DLC" was introduced by the request from Mr. Roy Tam,

https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Furldefense.com%2Fv3%2F__https%3A%2F%2Fgitlab.freedesktop.org%2Ffreetype%2Ffreetype%2F-%2Fcommit%2F0ed9fef032641c30d0398d98a01b69eca1c15224__%3B!!GXa4NB5MBjHR!GhS45UM8ehm31_wdZY6W6qbgdu5gKwZRk5MJ738vZwccn05k2yyj_H-xn3c1sjyGMskkFKv2UNMC%24&data=04%7C01%7Cjustyna.wawrzynska%40bluecrestinc.com%7C7cda724ec08348f84e2b08d8cef26873%7C8310f036fe8d4702a1e0177e9320227c%7C0%7C0%7C637486887837571500%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=gnyl5InB9EGayRRkEtGJHTH3h1GFVohpDlEuqXtULQ8%3D&reserved=0

The assumed font file*s* were dlctt-m7.ttf and dftt-f5.ttf. Revisiting the changeset, using
"DLC" prefix in the deny list is slightly too greedy idea to catch all Dynalab fonts, I
feel. Also it could be slightly odd to understand the situation as "2 different fonts produced
by same company have same family name", because it means that the customer cannot use these 2
fonts at the same time. Mr. Roy, do you have more detailed info to identify the fonts precisely?

mpsuzuki

Hello Justyna,

Before flagging the font as 'tricky' you are checking its name and
comparing it with the trick_names table defined in ttobjs.c file.
This causes that some fonts which aren't tricky are also flagged and
as a result we can't use autohinting on it.

What names are you talking about?

The main problem cause the fonts having prefixes in its names (like
incremental fonts) and "DLC" in the trick_names table. Is there any
chance to change this method or even change the "DLC" to "DLCMing"
and "DLCFong"?

Certainly. The more details you give on the font names you are going
to use (or which are already used by you), the finer we can adjust the
filter.
