I can speak for my intent. When Mono and Pnet were on almost equal footing, I
used the competition between the two groups when pointing out problems with
one system or another. I had very positive results. Many problems with Mono
and Pnet, were resolved by comparing the results of the compilers and the
runtimes with each other. In several cases, both Mono and Pnet claimed to be
following the spec, and only through direct confrontation was I able to
achieve a compatible solution.
Lately, there has been a shift in position. The problem that I see is that too
many resources are dedicated to Pnet's SWF's library, and many critical bugs
in the BCL are being ignored. For example, Gtk# and Qt# can no longer be
built with CVS versions of Pnet. Even reading in a basic XML document fails.
Although I realize that CVS isn't designed to be completely stable, I would
think that CVS should not break other software unnecessarily.
I could go on, and I suppose that it's pointless.
