For those who plan to get a USRP2 when they are ready, here are some
steps you can do to make sure you and your computer are ready.
1 Make sure your computer has Gigabit ethernet, preferably built into
the mainboard or on the PCI Express bus. If your primary network
connection is that same ethernet port, you may want to get an additional
PCI Express Gigabit ethernet board.
2 Get and/or build Microblaze-gcc cross compilers from here:
http://www.petalogix.com/news_events/petalinux_public_release
3 If you plan to do your own FPGA development, download and install
the latest ISE tools from Xilinx. If you have trouble, here are some tips:
http://gnuradio.org/trac/wiki/ISEonFC6
4 Again, if you plan to do your own FPGA development, download and
install Icarus Verilog and GTKWave. You will need a recent snapshot of
both.
5 Check out the USRP2 repository
svn co http://gnuradio.org/svn/usrp2/trunk usrp2
6 Explore the code.
