Try Fujimoto's "Parallel and Distributed Simulation Systems"

 It is only eight years old (2000) :) and explains all necessary 
synchronization schemes in detail (conservative and also optimistic 
algorithms). All important references are listed at the end of each chapter. 
Advantages and disadvantages of each protocol against others are discussed.
