                          SPAM Solution Meeting
                        2002-05-14, 11:00 - 11:30

IN ATTENDANCE: Paul Fisher <address@hidden>
               Bradley M. Kuhn <address@hidden>
               Ward Vandewege <address@hidden>
               Gary Wong <address@hidden>

ACTION-ITEM: Ward is going to look into the issues of system wide filters
and see if that works better.

NOTES [Ward]: We really want spam assassin and TMDA to be user
configurable. However, if we have database support, it will
              be sensible.

We could use system-wide filters with database support.

There are a few issues with database support, as action
              items below.

Database will match 'Envelope-to:' to find out what user.

Ward is in correspondence with TMDA about the problem with
hierarchy of multiple confirm messages to find out if the
TMDA will handle it. Ward is worried that it will be very
difficult to solve for TMDA, they will have to unify all the
              settings into one big pool.

ACTION-ITEM: bkuhn must get SA licensing problem for database support.

ACTION-ITEM: Ward is hacking database support into TMDA.

ACTION-ITEM: Ward will continue to follow up with TMDA people about
getting them to add support for "hierarchical" responses
             during alias expansion.

ACTION-ITEM: We'll hack the support into TMDA if they will not do it.

ACTION-ITEM: Either Ward or rao has will write a web interface for
configuration of SA and TMDA on a user-level.

NOTE: Ward has only four days left to work on this.

Discussion about how to handle the DNS updates.

DECISION: http://mail.gnu.org on fencepost will automatically redirect to
          new machine

ACTION-ITEM: rao will email system-hackers an ask if MX record can be
changed to mail.gnu.org instead of fp.gnu.org

DECISION: The machine will be named "monty-python", with alias "monty"
and "mp". First, for the famous "SPAM" skit of Monty Python,
and second, because TMDA is written in Python.
