What I miss is better organisation. I am unhappy with stuff like:

Compared to what forum can provide that is ridiculous.

New google groups is exactly like that: the old one was more similar to above, the newer is more like forum.

When you see stuff like this

with 61 pages, you know that you need separate forum.

I searched for mail list front-ends that provide such interface without any luck. 

Just sayin'...

I thought that's what the mailing list is for :)?

I would actually prefer simplifying ranger and improving the
documentation so no forum is needed.  But if somebody else with good
intentions is willing to set up and maintain one, I wouldn't say no.
