I am only at ISMB until midday 23rd - so we had better sort out the myExperiment talk before that :-)

Carole

Marco

A visit would be good. I want to pursue the text stuff we started on my
visit. Paul is going great guns. We also have our first term extraction
plugin prototype for Protégé 4.

A myExperiment talk at ISMB sounds very useful. I'm getting more engaged, so
I'll join in.

See you in Vienna

Robert.

Marco

I had not - I have an email backlog that is HORRIBLE due to being on the road see comments inline

BTW we go live with our first myExperiment social network trials on 1st August - wanna be in the trial?

Hello Carole,

Antoine just thanked me for sending the mail below and asked if you already responded. You did not, did you? I could have missed it, because I had to backup and drastically reorganise my
e-mail recently
(my 1Gb mailbox was full).

I have cc-ed June, Katy and Robert as well now, which I forgot the first time. June: can you say something about what would be
the best
time to visit you in Manchester again (see below)?

Regards!
Marco.

Hello Carole,

I had a good discussion with Antoine van Kampen last week about a possible Dutch myExperiment initiative and how it would fit the current plans of NBIC.

Some conclusions:
- Antoine likes the idea of myExperiment and would like to join our discussion at ISMB. I gather you haven't met each other
yet, so I can
introduce you there.
He is coming to see me in September I believe
- Antoine and I think myExperiment fits NBIC's BioAssist
program that
is about to start. In principle BioAssist is a
bioinformatics support
program focussed on implementation. There would be no extra funding for myExperiment as such, but we are confident that we can convince BioAssist project leaders that working on myExperiment is in their interest, which would mean BioAssist-funded programmers can
work on it.
Of course, I want our work at AID to be part of this.
Fab!!!
- Antoine will suggest to let me join some of the BioAssist
meetings.
BioAssist requires its members to focus on an e-science approach of web services and workflows, so apart from discussing myExperiment I think I can offer practical advice (with my good Manchester
friends as 'backup'
:-) ). Our recent text-mining work is a good example of how
useful and
efficient a workflow approach can be.
We love your text mining work - I told the Singapore people about it at GridAsia.
- I mentioned the Dutch chromatin community, which I think
could be a
useful for myExperiment as a community. Antoine told me
that some of
its members are also prime members of BioAssist. I hope to
be able to
address the community at its meeting in October, such that I can arouse and measure their interest.
Very good - we should include the BioAssist team in our early trials
For the future I think myExperiment should also be useful in grant applications implying new bio+informatics research (not only implementation).

About myVisit to Manchester.
Because our demonstration has been accepted at ISMB, I
think I would
rather visit you after ISMB instead of end of
June/beginning of July.
Would that be a problem? I would have more time for testing
the 'icing
on the cake' services before the demo (semantic and machine
learning
services). I could come in September, perhaps the same week as Antoine's visit, if that would be useful. We can also plan
this at ISMB.
I have no problem -- except that I shall be on vacation in August .......Robert and Matt Lee (myExperiment) will be here though

Regards!
Marco.

PS
- We have registered myExperiment.nl through the company of Johan Adriaans, Pieter's son. It currently links to myExperiment.org.
You are such a STAR!!!

Carole
