Yes, it will. But any other frequency greater than 8000 Hz will produce xruns.
8000 Hz works perfect for simultaneous recording and playing.

I regret, no. The DSP is a UCB1400 AC97 controller directly implemented
into the embedded device. We got this board from a special distributor.
(Emlix NetDCU6 - see at http://www.emlix.de)
I'm also in contact with the developers at Emlix in order to solve the
problem but they pointed me to the linphone developers. (as the Alsa
people did before) You might be right that there's a driver problem but
I'm not that familiar with the topic in order to find the problem inside
the driver code.
