#4 asks whether partcombine should also be changed independently, and in #5  
I state that I don't think so.  I'm not totally 100% sure about whether  
there might be some cases where making the outer \context Staff group  
descend-only could not also help with some partcombine cases.  But that's  
independent from this issue, even though possibly a similar problem.

So I'm putting this back to Patch-push and will do so presently.
