DOS, being it the proprietary MS-DOS or free-as-in-freedom FreeDOS (https://freedos.org/) still have a little place in the modern IT world.
A fading place I shall admit

DOS? - it was before me being interested in computers (beside an old

answer the question. But I can tell that I wouldn't miss it.

yes, we want to make it as simple as possible, but not any
simpler...  :)

I'll take steps towards c-runtime simplification.  For now, I'm not
throwing out DOS just yet, as many Intel-based controller boards may
be using a derivative of DOS.  About keeping DOS for now, I'd
appreciate feedback from our user-base and/or readership.

A system is perfect if you can't remove anything from it :-)

Not always but in this case I would go for removing everything that
simplifies debugging, our life, whatever, as long as nobody is
using
it.

After 3 Days now I would say we can safely remove everything expect
x86
(32 and 64 bit variants) and PPC.

Thanks for taking care Hans,
Rapha

  Hi Group,

The C-runtime (esp. base.h and base.c) could be so much
simpler
and easier to validate when support for all of the above legacy
systems were dropped?  Is there any merit in keeping that old
stuff?
Maybe just keep PowerPC?
