Details:

With the PYTHONINTERPRETER variable set, configure picks it up to find my
python interpreter, but later when it checks for the version it uses the
hardcoded "python" which does not exists for me.
I ran into the problem trying to create a port of jailkit for OpenBSD.
Attached patch fixes the problem for me.
