Octave crashes when executing msgbox |

Hallo,
I' n new to Octave but experienced user of matalab.
When executing the instruction msgbox('msg') Octave crashes and all windows
close.
Happened already with the plot command, but I don' t remember how I fixed
it.
Is there someone out there that could help me?
