Octave won't save plots

Octave won't save plots |

Whenever I try to save a plot using the GUI or with the "print" command,
Octave exits with the following error:
octave-cli: ../../../../src/mesa/vbo/vbo_exec_draw.c:278:
vbo_exec_vtx_unmap: Assertion `exec->vtx.buffer_ptr != ((void *)0)' failed.
panic: Aborted -- stopping myself...
I am using Ubuntu 14.04.
Has anyone else seen this before? Google didn't help much.
