FW: Reading Canon EOS Camera CR2 raw images

Most RAW files have been more than 8 bits per photosite for some time. Can you 
try DCRAW or UFRAW to make sure the image is what you think? Then you can 
perhaps export it to an intermediate non-lossy format like DNG or TIFF? They 
should work from the command line, so you need not have an interactive 
workflow, I think.
