status of plotting in 2.9.9

Hi,

I'd like to put some text my graphs, save them as postscript, etc.

The manual on the net still refers to gset, which is no longer supported 
(is it?) and the gnuplot_command set is very limited.

Are the gnuplot abilities not accessable anymore, and/or where do I find 
the annotation commands corresponding to 2.9.x?

(ps. where is octave heading to in the future? gnuplot seems to have 
revived)
