I am trying to compile Octave-2.9.12 with SuiteSparse-3.0.0 on
Zenwalk-4.6.1 system. I have compiled SuiteSparse-3.0.0 successfully as
per instructions given along with the source. But when I run configure
to compile Octave, it does not detect COLAMD, CCOLAMD, and CHOLMOD
libraries which have already been installed as a part of SuiteSparse.
This is the result of configure:

Please make your config.log available somewhere. If you send it to the list, it might make sense to compress it.

Octave is now configured for i686-pc-linux-gnu

  Source directory:     .
  Installation prefix:  /usr
  C compiler:           gcc  -mieee-fp  -Wall -W -Wshadow -g -O2
  C++ compiler:         g++  -mieee-fp  -Wall -W -Wshadow
-Wold-style-cast -g -O2
  Fortran compiler:     g77 -O -mieee-fp
  Fortran libraries:     -L/usr/lib/gcc/i486-slackware-linux/4.1.2
-L/usr/lib/gcc/i486-slackware-linux/4.1.2/../../../../i486-slackware-linux/
lib

I'm somewhat surprised by g77 linking with 4.1.2 libraries. Is g77 a symlink to gfortran?
