If you are building from the CVS, which you should be given what I know
you want to do :-), then you must have gperf installed as oct-gperf.h is
a dependent file that is not present in the CVS

You are missing SparseSuite/UFSparse... I believe Slackware can install
RPM's, so take Quentin Spencers SRPM file for FEDORA for UFSparse and
install it.

You are either missing the HDF5 libraries or include files...

Given that John has announced 2.9.10 in a few days, perhaps you're
better off just waiting a few days and using 2.9.10 when it is released..
