Octave and RAM

I am interested in learning Octave to process large datasets and wonder how

| handle large data. I am currently using R and it get all the data in the
| memory which makes
| it slow for large datasets.

| How does Octave handle large datasets?  does it use "out-of-memory"
| algorithms?
