To whomever may be interested,
I created a couple of scripts for octave/matlab for generating tex
input from matrices and polynomials in octave/matlab:

Scroll to the bottom of the page.
If anyone wants to add them to the standard octave distribution or to
octave forge, be my guest. Let's try not to put too much overhead on
them, though, they're quite simple, but still quite useful. Probably
too short for copyrights/etc, although I added copyright so they
can't be stolen from my use!
