A static version of octave-2.1.64, compiled with the home built gcc-3.4.3 on
Cygwin, runs as fast as versions compiled with gcc-3.2.2. It has some
"quirks" but useful timing tests can be done with it.
I have come to the conclusion that all the libraries used by octave will
have to be rebuilt with this compiler to be completely viable. However, it
looks promising enough that I will give it a go over the next few weeks.
Paul T
John,
I built gcc-3.4.3 on Cygwin, with --enable-shared. I leapt straight in
and built octave-2.1.64, again with --enable-shared, but the result is
broken
