Hello to all,
I believe this not to be a bug within octave but I can't generate a working
octave-executable on a "suse linux 9.0" system.

I have done the following:
1) on the ocatve homesite I have downloaded the "octave-2.1.50.tar.gz"
2) extracted this in a directory
3) called "./configure", then "make", then "make install"
4) this created an executable in "/usr/local/bin/". This executable is of
size 25.2 Mbyte
5) trying to execute it by calling "octave" or "octave-2.1.50" returns with
the message
"bash: octave: command not found" (even though it exists with seemingly
proper rights, i.e. rwxr-xr-x)

When I try "make check" (it said in the installation directions that I could
try it) the following messages appear:
# of expected passes 1278
# of unexpected failures 4

These four unexpected failures seem to be

"FAIL: octave.test/eval-catch/eval-catch-9.m"
"FAIL: octave.test/eval-catch/eval-catch-10.m"
"FAIL: octave.test/try/try-9.m"
"FAIL: octave.test/try/try-10.m"

Thanks in advance
best regards,
Bjoern
